Sorry - didn't know what to put as a title! Have been browsing on here but not posted for ages, however some advice would be greatly appreciated.
Got new pony for daughter on New Year's day this year. Daughter 19 and experienced, pony 14 hands gelding chunky NF cross, 10yrs old. He belonged to some people we know, although not very well, and he was reasonably cheap, reason given was that old owner was moving away from the area.
When we got him he was fat and unfit. He is quite well known locally and has done well at local shows etc.
Fast forward to now - he is fit, well and shining with health! Physioed, sports massaged and mot'ed (as my daughter likes to call it), by our vet. New saddle fitted by master saddler coming next week - and now we cant catch him, load him, worm him with a syringe, he has become spooky and wont let the farrier within a hundred yards of him. I am pretty sure he is feeling well and feeling his feet but daughter is getting increasingly frustrated, catching is the biggest problem at the mo, it can take an hour or more and when she's on her own sometimes she cant get him at all, sometimes she can.
She feels he is losing respect for her on the ground and I want to find some one to help us get these issues under control, as I am sure that a lot of it is down to a communication break down, if you understand me, and I would like to find someone who can help her build her relationship with him and find ways to deal with these issues as she isnt enjoying him as much as she should be.
I was thinking of a Kelly Marks person or some one like that, and thought that some of you lovely people could perhaps recommend someone for me.
We are in Nottingham, East Midlands.
Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for any for any help or advice.
