Natural Horsemanship

Just started riding a young pony who has been trained using voice commands and treeless saddle. He is quite green and the owner would like him to continue being trained in this way. Anyone who trains their horses like this? Any tips on how I could continue this method in training? Thank you for any advice.

NH really is not a single method of training. Has nothing to do with treeless or treed saddles or even voice commands. Though you can use either if it works for your horse. If it's something you're interested in read/watch videos from Julie Goodnight, John Lyons, and Monty Roberts. These are just the trainers off the top of my head that I've seen in clinic and used techniques from. Personally, I avoid Parelli like the plague because whatever good ideas he's had has been swamped by marketing hype.

I don't know who to recommend that might be local, but reading/watching should give you some idea of what you would like to see. Though, am I understanding that you are taking this pony on loan? If that's the case then (IMHO) it's up to the owner to finish their training, not you.
