Can anyone recommend and herbal supplements that my help my anxious horse. He cribs only when tied up, weves now and then and is a nightmare to ride. Ive tryed all the calmers knows to man so I was wondering if anyone knows of anything natural I could try. Something to settle the tummy and nerves idealy.

Search for ulcer threads. It's thought horses crib to relieve gastric distress. A healthy gut is what you're looking to achieve. There are a lot of threads on this subject matter.

deffo ulcers as mentioned above, also look up threads on here for brewers yeast, natural source of b vitamins and can have a natural calming effect I believe, though had no personal experience.

My cribber has improved incredibly since being treated with Gastroguard for 1 month, and is on an ulcer-friendly diet of molasses free alfa a, d&h ers pellets, speedibeet, micronized linseed, protexin and yea sacc. He is also turned out 24/7.

He used to do it like his life depended on it, but now only does it if i give him his hard feed when he's tied up by a post/rail and 'remembers' to  if i feed him in the middle of the field or yard, he doesn't bother - whereas previously he'd leave his feed to find a post!!

Expensive but definitely worth it :)

My tb wasn't a cribber but I took him to an equine vet who is also an osteopath so tries to treat naturally when she can. He used to panic & lay down when girthed, kick walls at dinner time.. He was treated with green clay & document oil, and a molasses free diet.

It's not just molasses - sugars in all forms, from the starch that makes up cereals, to the fructans in some vegetation, particularly stressed grass to simple sugars in all forms. It upsets the digestion and creates an acid environment in which ulcers develop, especially if the stomach is empty and the acid digestive juices can slosh around in it. High fibre low sugars of all kinds is the ideal diet, with cereals if you need them little and often.
Activated charcoal has been used succesfully to treat ulcers, as also has bicarbonate of soda (tohelp neutralise the acid) oil (to coat the lining - I used coconut oil) and a probiotic such as yeasacc to increase the gut bacteria.
It's a whole new (diet) world in which the feed company marketing men don't play any part lol

Oh....lol im lost now I have no idea what to feed anymore. Atm hes just on*speedi beet, grazon and a general purpose supplent. I dont feed any hard feed as he has enuff energy lol howeva I was thinking about buying a treat ball and putting a handfull of cheap pony nuts in to occupie him.
