Had the vet out this morning as he is not quite right and the vet has advised this afternoon after blood tests, that his white blood cell count is low and he has most likely got a virus.

The vet advised no treatment, a week off ridden work but keep his normal routine re turn out and feeding. Then if he isn't any better by Tuesday another visit. I currently use Sarc-Ex powder which seems to be helping with the sarcoids but I was wondering if there was any natural products/remedies that could help him fight off the virus? He's usually a pretty healthy guy!

Thanks in advance!

I generally find a tincture of Old Man's Beard, combined with added Bouquet Garni and a flannel soaked in Lavender usually does the trick!

Lol - sorry, not very helpful and only meant tongue in cheek but I really don't believe in wasting money on any natural remedies, particularly when you don't yet know what the problem is!

If I was in your situation I would hold fire and wait and see what the vet says!:)

Thanks Be Positive, that's just the sort of thing I was thinking of.

Moomin1 - I would never use herbal/natural remedies instead of or against veterinary advice, but I think it can't hurt to give them a 'boost' if they're not feeling great. I'd rather he gets over the virus quicker if he cant! I know you can use Red Cell for anaemia and I was just wondering if there was a similar product available to help white blood cell count.

You could try global herbs immuboost - that might help, or even restore.. You could maybe give the helpline a call and see what they suggest.
