I took Alfie, my yearling colt, for a walk down to the river today and he walked through perfectly, didnt bat an eye lid..........then we came to a puddle!!!! It turns out that Alfie doesnt like walking through puddles and he would rather just walk round it. So after a WHOLE HOUR of persistance and not giving in to the stubborn little s***, he decided that actually walking through the puddle probably is a good idea!

Does anyone else have stubborn little gits?

Yes, my friend and I thought we would take our horses down to the ford by the river and stand them in it. That means going over the railway, something I had not done before with Rose. We got over the railway in one piece (she actually jumped the whole line) but when we got to the ford it took us half an hour to get them to go in it. Then on the way back my friend's horse refused point blank to go back over the railway line, despite trying reversing, leading, etc. We were against the light so we had to hack 4 miles around another way where we could go under a bridge!!!!

Awww, bless, he is just an unsure baby. He doesn't know that the puddle isn't a 4 foot deep leg breaker

I find that with water, the way the light reflects off it, or not has a lot to do with how confident the horse is.
