naughty billy....weeing on hay!

i have a cheeky little pony called billy who keeps weeing on his hay! in the stable and field! when he is out in the field he wees on every pile one after another! (amazing bladder control!!) and at night in the stable he wees on it before eating it too! i have tried soaking it and he dont wee on it then however he wont eat it either!! (soooo stubbon!!)
the grose part is that the others still eat it when he has done it!!

anyone else seen one do this!!?? its worrying me!!

hmmmm. Can you put his hay in a haynet at night in his stall and is there a tall feeder or round feeder in the field where the hay can be put?

he always get his legs stuck in a hay net at night so i tend to put it on the floor.... think ists when he tried to cock his leg up it!!

I am not really a fan of haynets either tbh. My aunt had a filly get caught in one as well

You could attach a dustbin to the wall and put his hay in that. I know a rescue centre that does this.

He's the big cheese then, my mare did the same thing so she would always get the lions share. Since she has been given her own space (separate field) but able to see & sniff other horses she has been fine as she hasn't had to fight over food, there's plenty of it around.

I know how annoying it is, we had a little section a that did the same thing! I have no idea how to stop it happening though.

my boy does that, a big wee on his hay then eats it. He also eats off the muck truck given half a chance, he is truly disgusting

We've got a filly that poos in her automatic water trough, AND in her food manger - and a gelding that wees on his hay, and then rolls on it...our horses are SO delightful!

I am not sure which one of mine (never been caught n the act) But one of my horses poos in the water trough all the time as well. It would not be so bad, but it is a massive water tank and takesages to dump and clean out



btw......My horses LOVE to try and eat out of the muck heap. I had to modify my fencing as they were actually trying to tear down and ELECTRIC fence to get at it
They are all but over fed as well...fat...and for sure not hungry enough to be desperate

If they wee on the hay in the field it is normally because when they wee it splashes onto their legs and the hay stops this happening !!! Mad I know, but true !!!
