How long (ish) does it take to train? chimo was really good the first week or so with only the odd accident but now she is weeing in the house all the time. Over night she will do one (i dont think she can wait that long which is fair enough) but i will let her out to go (and give praise when she does) and then she will come back in and 10 - 20 minutes later, go again even though the door is open to go out.

any hints? if i catch her in the act i will tell her off and out her outside but dont tell her off if i find the puddle later as she wont know what i am on about!

I clean the puddle up with detol and bio washing power which i was told to use because the enzymes destory the wee smell (is this true?) how long till she might be dry at night ?

thanks for your help, sorry for the ramble!!!

nope, just wherever she fancys on the floor! she is coming up to 13 weeks. in all other ways she is a good girl! will be starting puppy classes in a few weeks.

Took Rhu 2 weeks, but with an odd accident here and there.

Is she crate trained?

If she is going during the night then I would get up halfway through the night and let her out. Not very glamorous, but I would get up every 3 hours when Rhu first came to us. Over a period of several week I increased the time between letting him out and he could go a whole night at 12 weeks.

Take her out 20mins after she's eaten or drunk and remove her water in the evenings. If she's thirsty, give her ice cubes to play with but remember to let her out again.

she is not crate trained, she did have one but i think the boat trip home really upset her (she was sick) and she would scream and howl all night in it so she has her own "room" in the entrance porch with a baby gate separating her off and she has not made a sound at night since!

She does have water all the time so i might try and limit that a bit before bed.

thanks for your help!!

When they're puppies their bladders are so small that they just can;t hold it all in, hence they'll need to go about every 4 hours. Limiting her water at night should help solve you're problem, but get up through the night if you can as it will enforce the point that her toilet is outside.

That's great!

No offence Snowhawk but to me thats avoiding the problem, besides you shouldn't deprive a dog fed on biscuit food water for obvious reasons.

By now she should be paper trained, when she starts to go have you been lifting her onto paper? Or even outside? Skye was trained to paper at 7 weeks. You shouldn't really expect a 13 weeks old pup to keep it in all night, its like a baby or a toddler.

we have tried leaving paper down and putting her on then but she just rips them up thinking it is a great game! same with puppy pads......

She has actually been quite good today but i guess it just takes time.....

she was not thirsty this morning, i gave her a bowl of water as soon as she got up and she just looked at it and walked off!! will leave a little bit down for her incase she needs a drink in the night.
