isit just mine??

let me explain....

stupid horse was being loose schooled a few months back (IT is 5).... she jumped out the arena (5 foot fence) almost made it but took the top rail with her.... she galloped off round the field and just managed to get away with a cut and a stiff leg (yes i did call the vet in panic mode...i thought she had broke her leg :o:rolleyes: )

Today... she decides to be an absolute d1ck, galloping and churning up her field for absolutely no reason when i went to catch her.... escaped into the "holding area" (like a sick paddock size which has access to the fields), i walked up to her going to clip her rope on and the little sod jumped the electric fencing from a standstill back in her field and galloped off...

funny i admit, but flipping dangerous.

I cannot loose school her as i know she will jump out, and now im a litle concerned if she gets spooked/naughty and jumps out her field (fencing is around 3.5 foot)!?

Is there any way to discourage her to not jump out the field before she starts??? Her paddock is just a good size not too big so i cant catch her (she does get days when she will refuse to be caught for a good 20 mins), however in her old field (25 acres) i ran round for hours trying to catch the little ****.

Shes a damn good jumper, needs a confident rider and i know she would do well BS.... unfortunately i do dressage....:D
fanks :)

Not much help I'm afraid but my little ***** jumped out of the menage last weekend too, 4' from a standstill with about 2' clearance!! Got into the field with the YO's horses and created havoc, so I can sympathise! :)

haha they are litle buggers! its only cause se dosent want to do something so thats how she "opts out"

They are on individual grazing as each horse has differnt needs (mines a fatty), ones got lami, other 2 are a "couple".... so works well

I do think sometimes shes lonely but no more room for a little shetty friend for her sadly!, although i do think sometimes that may be part of the problem?! fed up?

Maybe you could have a go at just going into the field - not with the intention of catching her but just go up to her , no headcollar or anything , give her a treat rub her head and walk away , she needs to learn that being with you doesn't always mean work and that it's a positive thing , i'm not a parelli or monty person at all , but i think some ground work with join up and play sessions would be good - how old is your girl and how much do you ride her - the only reason i ask is cos our lot live out 24/7 and you'd think that they were almost feral , but each one is just itching to be caught and worked , they see it as a positive thing..

sorry just re-read post i see she's 5..
