My terrier has 3 main big black spots on his body. He's a scruffy terrier, but not extreme case of scruffiness. Every time he's been to the groomers, the tiny black spots show up amongst his white - his "naughty spots" as I've heard people call them...

He came back from the groomers yesterday looking very smart! I swear MORE naughty spots have appeared since last time. Is this possible or am I imagining things?

Was he naughty at the groomers? That might explain it. ;)

No, seriously, I've no idea! Not heard of dogs going darker. Mine have gone grey round the muzzle, and that's it!

Yes it is possible :) My white greyhound has some black patches and also has black ticking all over her - as she has got older the black ticking has increased, I thought I was seeing things as well but when I checked older photos I was right :D

Ah I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I swear he wants to be a dalmatian! lol! I'll upload photos later. Can't do it at work! We've noticed that one of his big black spots is slowing turning brown too! Haha!

The funniest thing ever was when I was walking past a group of Brownies with the dogs on leads - one little one said to another 'oh look a Dalmatian!' I burst out laughing, the child was mortified....whoops!

I'm not sure about other breeds, but spots on Border Collies are called 'naughty spots' if they are on their nose
