Does your horse do anything naughty or evasive whilst riding? Mine always wants to itch his front leg!!!
He has done it for years and years, every ride without fail, he will stop and stick his neck down to his leg and itch!!! Little monkey!

What do your horses do to get out of a good outline???

Snort! Just like they do when theyre clearing the pipes at the beginning of a work session - but he does it so it pulls me forward and he gets a split second stretch form his outline. Clever.....and annoying!

Mine spooks if I don't get her infront of my leg, or if I'm asking a lot of her she'll back off and if I'm not quick enough she'll throw in a spook. We did have her back teeth saddle etc done jsut to make sure, but she is a sharp horse anyway, and once she's infront of the leg it stops quickly, and if it's when I'm teaching her something new, she stops spooking as soon as she grasps the concept of what it is we are doing. I think with her it is a confidence issue with herself and with my instructions. Mind you we can't be doing too badly, she's learning canter pirouettes and piaffe now =D

my thoroughbred mare did this , as she is sometimes ridden by my other half who is very novice I thought I would look into it to see what was bothering her . Found it wasn't the leg but the face she was itching , took her noseband off and it stopped- she hated it- noseband now back on but higher and looser , no more itching!

Stops dead once or twice on the way into the school, partly to suss out who's about (arena surrounded by turnout pens) and partly cos she thinks it's amusing.
OH whopped her on the bum with the end of his reins the other day (split reins!) and she cow kicked so far forward she nearly got him!
