Does anyone know anything about the impact of a healed navicular fracture on the long term working life of a horse?
Is it likely to lead to and increased risk of traditional "navicular syndrome"?
And if the horse is still lame on that foot intermitently (i.e. if jumped heavily or worked on hard ground) years after the event, is the intermitent lameness likely to become more frequent in later life?
Thanks for any help anyone can give.

I hate to be the bearer of doom and gloom but my horse cracked his navicular bone and after a long time we got him sound again. Then after only 6 months of soundness he went lame and never recovered, after 3 months of trying we finally had to have him pts. He was 9 years old. It broke my heart.

I honestly think that if this has happened then you should be prepared for problems in the future. I was told NEVER to jump him again and not to work him too much on hard ground. We were really careful with him and yet still lost him.

Sorry.
