As the Navicular topic does seem to get mentioned a lot these days have any of you lovely peeps had a Navicular diagnosis for your pone and if diagnosed did any of them happen to be barefoot when diagnosed? Is this a problem for just horses that have metal shoes on?

TIA

No, it seems to be linked to having long toes, contracted, under-run heels and a toe first landing. This is more common in shod horses, but does happen in unshod ones too. It is also why there is more to a BF rehab than just taking the shoes off.

Have a look at the Rockley blog, they rehab a whole range of horses for various foot pain issues, some have been shod but some have also been barefoot. It's all to do with how the foot lands. :)
