Im convinced one of my horsey's will get navicular.

hes ok, now. but i just "know" ive had him years n years. vets says hes fine. but i know that sometimes hes just "pottery" never lame but that first 5 mins riding/hacking just isnt right too me. once warmed up fine, and giddier than ever lol!

i try n keep him out as much as poss (even thou he hates being out! )
i warm him up steady and try n work on soft ground.

he has side clip shoes (always had poo feet)

I have loads of bute n when i think he seems worse give him some.

I just find he seems to be careful now and when hacking will want to walk on tehgrass than path etc?

I had him scanned recently and all showed fine, but me n farrier think otherwise.

also, hes always happy to work/jump/gallop/etc?

Have you had Xrays as well as scans? Have you had his back checked by a good physio? He may have an arthritis- my cob has low ringbone and it presents symptoms like that but you can only see it on xray rather than scans.

Pedal ostitis rather than navicular? I think navicular shows up in young horses rather than older ones and you say you have had him for years??

The two conditions can look very similar but horses with navicular often have boxy feet whereas horses with pedal ostitis tend to have flat large feet. Eggbar shoes can be used for horses with navicular whereas the general treament for pedal ostitis is usually pads under the shoes.

I dont know your horses history but it may be worth bearing in mind that a pottery gate and tendancey to walk on the grass and be a bit "footy" can be a very low grade symptom of laminitis.
