My horse was PTS with navicular last year. It was caused by poor foot conformation, he was a big horse on small boxy feet. The navicular bone degenarated causing it to become rough and rubber on the suspensory ligmement making him lame.
It was diagnoised by nerve blocks and xrays.
He had navilox- a blood dilater, bute, show wave therapy and eggbar shoes. We also tried Cytek, Natural balance shoes, cortaflex and barefoot but he got progressivly lamer and I couldn't keep him sound on 3 bute a day.
Symptoms are usually pointing a foreleg, intermittent lameness, uneven feet and a tendancy to start a little 'short' when first starting work.
