indeed..... particularly as the Belgians do not hold a superleague show so all this talk of the FEI family and not being able to raise cash for th show if not fielding a team only pertains to team GB, so i am not surprised that the italians think if concessions are made for us why not them as well.
what a mess and perhaps they ought to sort it out quickly as i believe the sponsors are only contracted for a year so could drop out any minute.......
well its a cop out but what else can they do. If they can't interpret the rules then I agree a line should be drawn under this year and no country relegated, including the Italians. Anything else will result in legal wrangling, bad feeling etc etc and we have to look forward.
Behind the scenes though the rules need to be re considered to cover all eventualities and clearly understood without ambiguity.
Measles, sadly it isnt fair if they dont even apply a rule to keep the teams up, and the excuse they are applying only applies to the brits. That is why the italians are objecting, because that excuse also applies to them as hosts of Rome.
LHS, i am afraid to say that that sadly if they dont relegate the apropriate amount of teams what happens to the ones about to be promoted? As far as i can see, all the other teams will have a prededent to object in future if no team is relegated at all this time.
I think that legally they would be better off to relegate all three of them and then as you say, sort out the rules for next year. it wont hurt anyone if only 9 teams compete in the super league next year.....
Yes I agree with you, its been a big fiasco all round and I do understand that someone is going to feel aggrieved but I suppose to me a clean cut and start again is better than disputes and wrangling that also lead to bad feeling. So over and done with bad feeling or protracted bad feeling. Not much of a choice is it.
The FEI don't now seem to publish the Promotional League standings and I've not got time to try and work them out (sure you've not either!) but I can't think of 3 nations that would be likely to survive for more than a year in the Super League, and wouldn't that make life too easy for the other 7 teams? Norway could though don't have strength in depth. Brazil might if Rodrigo took part. The whole affair is a heck of a mess. And as The Voicw said last week, there could be further twists should there be any positive drug tests!
whether the other teams are good enough or not is hardly the point is it and i might remind a few people that team GB have been well beat in almost every nations cup they have particiapated in including those of the promotional league countries. Those countries according to david holmes are supposed to be encouraged and helped to develope which will hardly happen if the snotty nosed 'they arent good enough anyway so who cares" attitudes prevail.
bear in mind it was one of those lesser lights who beat everyone in Dublin, and I can think of a few of the lesser mortals who might give a few people here a bit of a shock next week.
