STOP ME
I nearly relented and put rain sheets back on my 2 younger horses!!!!!!!
The horses are (21 year old Anglo and 27 year old pure T/B who have light fills on and the other 2 aged 9 pre x T/B and Cob cross T/B aged 12 been naked since early March (when we got the drier spell)
Both younger horses have come out of the winter a bit too well so all horses are corralled in a huge turn out area fro 7:30 to 4 pm will hay and out in one of the fields all night ( a little grass but not masses in it) .The 2 younger are naked
There is a good barn (75 ft by 25 ft open to corral and to the fields when in there.Oldies get a feed morning and evening and holding their weight.
I need to keep them all together as the T/B goes mental screams and fence walks persistently if separated from the younger horses
PLEASE TELL ME TO LEAVE RUGS OFF!!!!
It is horizontal drizzle today and cold and I feel mean though horses are happily standing in the barn watching the weather
Fingers crossed the settled weather they forecast will be here soon.

I relented. One day last week it was really cold, blowing horizontal torrential rain and one of them was shivering.
Bah!

I rug as I feel it necessary. Mine has one on today as it's raining but was naked yesterday because the sun was out.

Its 7/8 degrees here and checking on the horses they are not shivering and indeed did not come in cold this morning !
I know they are ok but when its windy and drizzly I have to resist the urge to immediately put rugs on.
They have been naked now for 4 weeks now so should have aclimatised .
They are all standing in the barn picking at hay .
Its supposed to be calming down later this afternoon so will check them when I let them into the field (and feed the oldies)at around 4 pm but I am trying to hold off rugging as they don't appear to be cold.
