Me and my OH got woken up at 2.30 in the the morning to find two guys trying to rob his bike, its a coustom made rally bike and worth £1000, and who ever it was knew what it was, i forgot to chain mine up and they moved mine to the other side of the garden and just tried to take his, we had it locked to the trampoline and they took the legs off.
Our house is surrounded by houses and our garden isn't easily seen from the avenue at the back, so who ever it was must have seen my OH on it and watched where we live, luckily its squeeky bike and i'm a light sleeper, i heard them moving it and shouted hoping they would drop and run, but instead they threw themselves and the bike through my fence, smashing it to pieces and over the other gardens gate, we rang to police straight away, while my OH went out to see if he could see any thing.
I looked out of my bedroom window to find they were still in the avenue, so i rand the police straight away and they quickly discoverd the bike dumped in a garden, it had the bike lock around the wheel so they coulden't ride off on it, so now we have the bikes in the kitchen, the dog has had to be tied up and a bill to fix the fence:(
Sorry for the rant, i am just so p**sed off

This is more common that you might think and the only way to keep them safe is to keep them indoors

**dull geeky warning** you weren't nearly robbed, robbery is theft using or threatening violence, your bike was nearly stolen.

it makes me so angry.
just the other night trailers at the yard where i keep my horse had wheels and jockey wheels stolen.
really wat is the world coming to! all that effort for wheels.
p****d off is def how i would feel good job you woke i suppose but still not a nice thing to have happen.

its scary isn't it! when I lived in Aberdeen some youves broke into my garage and set light to the contents, which I hasten to add they added to the previously empty garage! We were woken by the sound of breaking glass as the heat made the garage window break. the police actually didn't do anything, just told me to pour a bucket of water on the remains of it when they came out 48 hours later (we'd already put the fire out ourselves!).

The police can be rather pathetic at times:mad:

Near to where my parents live a woman phoned the police and told them she had burgalers in her garage. If they came streight round they would catch them. The police said they couldn't send anyone round as they where all buisy. She put the phone down. After a few minuets she phoned them back and said they didn't need to hurry as she had shot the burgalers.
Within minuets her house was surrounded by armed police. They said to her "whats going on, we thought you said you had shot someone"
To which she replyed "I thought you said you couldn't spare anyone as you where all buisy"
The woman got arrested for waisting police time and the burgalers got away scot free

Thats just not right, but its a good idea, minus the arresting

The best trick with there local police is one my parents use and best of all they don't get arrested.
If my dad phones the police they don't care (he's white) but if his neighber phones whos muslim they come round streight away. Luckly the neighbers are very nice so if dad needs the police he gets the neighbers to phone and it gets sorted streight away. :D
