Vet has recomended a nebuliser for my horse. Will insurance cover this(petplan) ? Do horses get used to it? Does it have a good effect? Would be interested in peoples experience. Thanks
 
Mine uses a flexineb nebuliser. Unsure if insurance still cover the purchase cost, I've had mine 10years (I think!) so may have changed. I think they may cover hire costs though
All 4 of mine are happy to use it, including the headshy one. To get them used to it I removed the bottom valve & I fed treats through the hole, they all now offer their noses for it to go on when needed. Not often for 3 of them, but the one with a pollen allergy is daily now.
It works fantastically for mine, the pollen caught me out a bit this year & her breathing was horrendous, heaving & sweating up just stood still. In less than a weeks she's backed normal. It also means she can be given steroids despite being laminitic as the dose is so small & goes direct to the source of the issue.
 
We have a flexineb - it wasn’t covered by insurance but policies do vary so worth checking with your insurers. We got him used to it over the space of a couple of days - starting with the valve open and feeding treats through the bottom. Our vet advised walking him around during a session as that encouraged him to breathe more deeply. It worked brilliantly and got his breathing under control very quickly. He’s now moved away from whatever was causing the reaction so hasn’t needed it for a year and a bit.
 
Mine has it covered with petplan , I really rate it so far hasn’t had to use meds in just saline , we were worried as he can get. Headshy but he’s so good 😊
