I currently use a step in style harness for Frankie, which has a Velcro fastening with d rings for the lead. He has recently been showing back / neck pain so I’m keen to try avoid aggravating that area. On pain and anti inflammatory medication in the short term to monitor any further spasms / seizures.

Are there any escape proof harnesses that I could try that would not put pressure on this area? He is long haired and the style with side clips annoy him if they are prone to pulling hair.

Thanks.

Perfect fit harnesses do have side clips but are I think the best. Both my vets and vet physiotherapist recommend them. I have one dog who has a very sensitive trachea and the harness doesn't bother him , and you can undo clips so you don't have to put over their head.

Voyager have soft velcro fastening with D clips for the lead. My boy has degenerative disc disease in his neck and is fine with these. He has a velcro fastening a and side clip fastening, he's fine with both. He's a shaggy terrier. Amazon often have them on offer. They don't rub either.
