Neck covers = rubbed manes?

I know some neck covers/hoods rub the mane off, and some don't. I wonder if you could discuss which are better than others.
 
I think it depends a lot on the horse too not just the type of rug.

I normally use the Weatherbeeta combo rugs- they rubbed the mane off one horse, made the mane of another horse go wierdly frizzy on another, and they haven't affected my current horse's mane at all!
 
Like humans, horses are all a different shape. Like a size 10 woman might find M&S clothes fit her well, the next size 10 might find they pinch.
A 6' horse might be okay with weatherbeeta, and the next 6' horse will be rubbed by them,......
 
Like the others say, it totally depends on the horse.

Although, Id only use mane covers with the silky bit (a lot seem not to have this, especially cheaper ones). And I prefer for my neck covers to be slightly too big than too small or I find they rub more.
