Ouch ouch ouch.
My neck has gradually being getting worse since my tumble last week. I now can't turn my neck at all without a sick inducing pain shooting straight up my neck. You know that red hot pain you get if you crick your neck? Yeah like that!

Having never hurt my neck before is this normal? I'm assuming my muscles have just got into spasm?

Sorry for self pitying post I'm sitting up in scotland, miles away from home feeling very sorry for myself

Added to which i'm worried about Hovis who hasn't seemed "right" the last week so the vets are coming at lunch time and i'm not there. I'm hoping they're going to say i am an over protective mum but i hate not being there.

God i sound like a whinging cow bag! Someone shoot me!

Not going to shoot you I'm afraid. Sounds like you need sympathy and hugs if you want

Sounds very painful. Could you get one of those microwave herb/wheat bags at all, or deep heat, thats good for aches. If it persists it may be worth getting checked out to be safe, but ibroprofen/arnica and deep heat etc might help for now.

Don't worry thinking you're wasting the vets time either- sometimes best to go by gut instinct, and have them checked over just for peace of mind, if nothing else. And should it actually be something, at least you'll have caught it early. Hope the big boy's ok

((((((()))))))))) sorry to read that you are in so much pain. Do think that it would be a good idea to see a Dr walk in clinic or A&E just to get your neck checked out. Personally I would have thought after a few days it should be getting a little better not worse. I would hate to think you might have done more damage than you think you have. Good Luck hope you get better soon.
Hope all goes well with Hovis and the vet. I look forward to reading what Hovis thinks in his diary.

Sound like you need to see the doctor and be refered to the hospital to get that neck checked out or have your been? Have you got a neck brace on that should help?

~~~HUGS~~~~~~~~ for you and Hovis
I would get yourself off to a physio.
I fell off over a year ago and my neck got worse and worse, to the point that I couldn't lift my head off the pillow in the morning
Went to see my physio and I had whiplash. Many treatments (and acupunture) later, it wasn't too bad. 15 months on, after going to the doctor about it, I have been told the damage is permanent
.
I'm not sure if getting it seen to earlier would have helped tbh but it's not a nice thought knowing I'm going to be like this for ever
I would personally have it checked out (better safe than sorry), i took a tumble on Saturday and had a stiff/sore neck for two days, starting to get better today so i would think that if you came off last week and still having the pain it would be best to get it looked at.
Think A&E check in order
Remember having a whiplash and my head felt like it was going to fall off the axis.
A neck collar provided amazing support
However long term--I still cant turn my head as fully as I would like.
Can you get hold of any muscle relaxant medication ie ibuprofen, or even diclofenac? I am also a pain in the neck sufferer, and keep mine under control by medication and good pillow support. I'd always slept with a thin pillow but doctor told me a bigger pillow would offer more support and it has helped.
Also I tend to try ice on my neck when I have done something to aggravate it - maybe ice is better than heat if it's still inflamed? Or alternate - ice then heat! Perhaps the hotel will lend you a packet of frozen peas
Poor you. I would try to get to see a physio asap to get the neck looked at - sounds like you may need a little massage and relaxing of the muscles.
If you can go private, you should be able to get an appointment within 24 hours or less. If you were down my neck of the woods, I could recommend you to someone in London who is excellent.
Sure Hovis will be fine. Stinky had a bit of a dry cough and slightly off colour - even though living out and I think he may have picked up a bit of a virus.
He is fine now, I put him on clarity and gave him some benylin for a few days and he is back to naughty pest. Hopefully Hovis will be the same (but not a naughty pest).
Farra sends him a huge clydesdale sized kiss and you can have one too if you want she says.
Well if she comes at you after scoffing her blue lickit, your neck will need to move fast to avoid a full face smear.
Hope you both are ok and back to your goodselves as soon as possible.
Stinky is still in best horse books after the weekend and they are both having the lovely Paul come out to give them a once over physio next week - he is fantastic at sorting out any problems and treats the whole horse rather than just the back.
Maybe you should come down to Essex and get him to treat your neck (he not only is great for muscles but nice to look at too) when bent over a large hairy beast.
He comes from Cambridge so could even go up your way if needs be.
Yes and when I used to have a certain vet for Fleur, the girls on the yard fought to offer to hold her for him and then stood dribbling as he was draped over reaching down for her hocks, he did have a gorgous bum though.
Maybe you need to do a double take at a good looking vet/physio to get your neck turning again
Now Hovis knows where Farra gets her forwardness from....
