Has anyone got any bright ideas how to stop my horrible horses escaping. The whole field is divided up with permanent electric fencing and I strip graze with a tempory bit. I have loads of grass and fat greedy horses. Now blanket clipped so I put on neck covers and ever since they just push through to where they want to be (I think its just the young one and her mother just follows through the broken fence.)
Two nights they have opened 7 bales of haylege and I am livid. I stabled them on Sat night but they were stood fetlock deep in water Sunday morning so stabling is not an option either.
This morning they had again escaped into the 2 acre long grass and looked very smug again. Neck covers are now OFF.
The fence is working well
Does anyone make an electric conducting neckcover...if not someone needs to...just for me.
If they weren't so fat I would just let them into the grass. (they get no extra hay/lege or hard feed)

Just leave the neck covers off - they wont melt just cos clipped and 2/3rds of them is warm and dry under the rug anyway.

Far better than obese laminitics etms horses to me....

Mine does it with no neck as well. She wrecked this rug on a fence with 2 electric wires on the permenant fence. Just depends on their height as to what bit of the rug helps them evade electric!

hiya!! my friend just bought this new turnout rug to stop her horse going through electric fencing, it takes the current through the rug which stops them going through the fence. she had special part put into neck as well because her horse ducked under fences, she says its brilliant, think theyre called guardian equestrian. Best of luck x x x il try and get more details about it x x x

Guardian rugs are only the chest and v v expensive! We tie electric fence tape round the chest buckles for any that go through ours regularly. For necks I agree fold the necks back and under for an hour or so, I'm sure they'll zap themselves :D

no guardian do neck cover panels as well because Tanya had them done, one strip by neck cover straps on under side and one strip along the crest to stop him ducking. Ive seen a bad wound when someone put wire round front of rug; it just acted like cheesewire when horse got it stuck on the gate bolt ... horrific. x x x

I have sewn wide tape up the crest and tucked it into the top, also a strip underneath tucked in the chest. So far she hasn't go out again.

I did this myself to my mares rug a couple of years ago when she went through a phase of escaping. It worked a treat.
