As promised I took a few pics lastnight to show how Beau's neck is getting on.

It has now been a week since he was bitten, for those who dont know, here was the wound a week ago:

He was then on anitbiotics 5 days, the vet unfortunately couldnt get near him, but said that there wasnt enough there to stitch anyway.

And this was it lastnight:

Still hosing, hibbiscrubbing and putting an antiseptic waterproof wound cream on, still looks gross though.

a little but doesn't look too bad. Pidge had a nasty cut on his front leg a couple of weeks ago and the open area was a good inch across and I thought "bugger" should have called the vet out after all as this is gonna scar big

however intrasite it, left it, scabbed over big, scab has now come off and it has very nearlly healed together so "phew".
I would be tempted now to contact Henryhorn re this as I'm sure she can advise on proud flesh if there is any and the best way to deal with it, otherwise it might heal funny?

I know from on here she has some good stuff for dealing with proud flesh.
put the intrasite on and let it set then leave it alone, it will come off naturally or if needed to come off you can just peel it off. It's like glue, fascinating stuff - I know I need to get out more

LOL!

Well the reason Ive stayed away from it until now is because of where the wound is it is getting filthy every day, and although I know the intasite is a barrier I wanted to be able to wash it out thoroughly to see clearly how the wound was healing, now the swelling has gone down, it may be worth a try.

I have Pm'd HH

Put honey on it and try to cover it (don't know how you would do that in that position - maybe theses new plasters) That will deal with the proud flesh and minimise any scarring.

Propolis Gel is fab stuff for wounds and flesh injuries. Is based on the natural antiseptic bees produce.

Is also not sticky so doesnt create a "sealed" barrier.

It's definitely getting there! It's old fashioned, but I've always found Green Oils really good on wounds. My mare had a really nasty hock wound which I religiously put Green Oils on and it healed up slowly, but without proud flesh. It doesn't cost a fortune, either!
