On average how long do people find it takes NED to upload new passport details from passport issuing organisations? I updated my PRE's passport with BAPSH in January of this year but it still hasn't appeared on NED. BAPSH say that they update NED monthly but still nothing is showing up on the NED database. Thanks.

All Passport Issuing Organisations are required by Defra to submit update passport information to us at the National Equine Database each month. We then aim to take no more than 5 days to check and process that data onto the public database.

However, the last update we recieved from BAPSH was in March last year and we have been chasing them for an up date.

My foals were issued with a Hann passport last year - def pre Nov as that's when we collected them (breeder sorted PP's) - one has just gone on NED the other isn't on there?

Still can't associate my lad with his BD / BS(JA) records as he is an old boy, no longer a member of either and it keeps asking for his reg number??? He is on there 3 times, OH's mare twice - madness!

Thanks to the NED person who replied that BAPSH have not updated them since March 09. I will take that up with them.

I would urge anyone to look at the NED site and check that all their horses are registered and associate themselves with their horses.
Many thanks to everyone who has read and responded so far to this thread.

To Miller,

The reason that we have unmatched performance records is that many of these records predate passports and therefore we do not have the passport number from the competition disciplines. All the competition disciplines now ask for passport number when (re) registering horses and this allows us to match up the data going forward.

For those records where we do not have a passport number, we attempt a unique match on name and age – but this does not always create a reliable match and by default we do not automatically match a record unless we are reasonably certain it is the same equine. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that horses compete under different names in different disciplines (even if it is just to add a number) and that is again different from the name on the passport. We do use the old BHD number and FEI numbers where supplied. It is also possible for the owner to match the horse if they know the registration number in the discipline and this should be available from the competition discipline, even for older horses that are no longer competing.

I am sorry you feel that the situation is “madness” – but we have to start somewhere, with the data that is available to us from the Passport Issuing Organisations and Competition Disciplines, otherwise we will never have an accurate National Database that will inform breeders, support sellers and protect buyers.

If you contact us on info@ned.uk.com with details of the missing equine and the details of the horses with BD and BS(JA) records that are not matched up, we will endeavour to correct the data.

My PRE is two this year, she has had a passort since around 6mths old (I bred her), she still does not appear on NED despite my emailing them more than once they have never even bothered to reply.

My old girl does appear on NED but I cannot connect myself to her as NED says the date on her passport is wrong - no it's not:confused: Again I have emailed them - three times now - have they replied? Not a chance:mad:

Waste of ****** space:mad:
