Hi guys! Excuse typos and the like, I'm absolutely exhausted. I was up at 6am, at the show by 9:30, left the show at 3 and have been working 4-9pm!! *yawns!*
Ned was more or less a delight to tack up, but got very excited as I put his saddle on, he could tell we were going to do something out of the ordinary!
He was great to hack over, went straight over the weir and let me get back on, on the other side
We got there in good time and I walked him in-hand for a while to let him settle, which wasn't too long! Though he did shout and shout all day!!
Eventually got on and had a wander around, he was a little excited, but generally ok. Annoyingly, the warm up jumps were pretty crowded, with some of the showing horses schooling around the jumps, getting in the way :\ so I figured I'd enter the clear round and have a play. We got 2 clear rounds!! Yay!!
He was VERY strong lol!
We then went over to the ridden showing ring and had a go at "Over 18's Rusty Riders" where I was the only entry!! So of course I came first
The judge was very nice and gave me a little 5min schooling lesson, which was lovely of her!!
Then it was time for the jumping! There was a LOT of waiting around, which didn't help my nerves. We went in the 60cm and he was brilliant!! He flew round (a little too fast at times!) but I felt in control and he felt so flowing, even if he didn't look it I was one of 4 to go clear and finished third!!! I'm not sure how many were in my class, but there must have been around 20 people in my class I'm SO proud!!
Sadly, we clipped a fence in the 70cm, but it was 3pm by this point and I was meant to be working at 4!!! So it was a blessing, I suppose! I wouldn't have wanted to leave if I'd gone clear!
Then to top it all off, in between the jumping classes, from across the field, Ned spotted a pretty haflinger mare, who was at my old yard that I left well over a year ago! Ned loved her, he would jump the fence to be with her, it was so cute!
As soon as he saw her he didn't take his eyes off her and shouted for her! She did the same When it was quiet enough, I let Ned go and say hello, he was so thrilled to see her again
And FINALLY! A comedy picture Ned attempting to eat something, with not much grace!
