I was just wondering if anyone could offer some advice. My dog cut his paw about 3 weeks ago, i took him to the vets and they bandaged it up, after a few days i went back and it wasn't healing so they stitched it up (and then bandaged it again). The stitches were in for 10 days then they took them out and it opened up again, (not as bad) so they bandaged it again. They kept this on for 3 days and now he has no bandage or stitches. Due to all the bandaging he now has a small infection in his dew claw but the wound itself has healed ok - still a little weepy but they said that was due to the bandage. My problem now is he is really desperste to lick it and i know he shouldn't but the buster coller is not much good due to his long legs he can easily get to his paw to lick it, it does discourage him a bit so i've left it on. The only thing i've found that stops him is if i put a sock on his foot but i don't know if this is ok as the vets said the air needs to get to it! I'm a bit stuck as to what to do so was just hoping someone would have some advice. Thank you very much.

Difficult one, its a nightmare when the buster collar just doesn't work (it didnt on my bitch because her head is so small and tying it on freaked her out!) however I'm lucky enough to be home to keep an eye on her and stop her getting too involved with it.
SU did say that in her opinion licking isn't the worst thing to happen to a cut and manuka honey could help?
I'm sure someone will be on soon, but feel very sorry for you and your pooch-its awful when they're poorly!
