12yo Staffordshire bull terrier , has always had pongy flatulence but seems to be getting worse!!!! He stinks !!!!!

He is fed Tinned and dry pedigree chum dog food at present , does anyone else have a staffy who stinks ??? Not sure if it is just him or that they can all be stinkers !!!

Any food recommendations appreciated ,have been told about chicken and rice food is good and plain , doesnt tend to make them smelly ??? anything else ???

thanks x

You can buy a charcoal supplement to help with this, but Pedigree Chum isn't the best quality food either, so it may be worth a change? I know it seems very competitively priced but the nutritional quality is very low so you need to feed high amounts- and most of that ends up on your lawn

Tinned food can often cause your dog to become smellier. Also Pedigree Chum isn't a very good quality of food, in fact TBH I would never feed it to any of my 3

One of mine is on James Wellbeloved and is never stinky! The other two are on a meal which is specifically for working dogs but it's grand but would be too high protein for a pet.

Barney used to have a special senior dried food (I think it was Iams?) which was gentler on oldies tummies, as he turned from the canine dustbin to a delicate soul in his older years. He wasn't all that windy, though he did pong generally instead

Both of mine are on dried food and they are not smelly. My lab was fed Pedigree Chum Meat when I first got her. She looked fine but she had really smelly farts and could sometimes got a runny tummy. This was when she was about 18 months.
Since I have learnt more over the years I changed her diet to dried food and onto James Wellbeloved and she is 14 now and still going. I have my other Weimeramar on this and she hardly ever farts unless she has pinched something she shouldn't. lol

Try Nature Diet, it's stopped my two Staffies stinking the house out.

They even stank when I feed them Nutro or JamesWB...they are just smelly dogs

Seriously, my two get Nature Diet and they don't get windy now, and they love eating it and beg at feed times. I'm just glad that I'm no longer about to be asphyxiated by the rancid staffy bum!

Thanks everyone, will try some of these suggestions, he used to have wilsons extra choice dry food , soaked and didnt stink too bad , when he was younger , but he started to go off it and wouldnt eat it anymore .
I think staffies can just be stinkers!!! he can be soo grossss!!!
Ur blue staffie is gorgeous nijinsky .

I've tried Pedigree before, and it gave my dog a runny bum as the food just went straight through her.

To be honest, I think you get what you pay for. My two are now on Arden Grange, its quite pricey, but they both look lovely, and have shiny coats too.
