marley and danni

hi all me again!!
i ride with the same horse and rider every time i school... we dont follow each other (not often or on perpose) and marley goes fab he does try and follow but i dont let him...
the problem is we have started practicing our own shows with a few other ponys and riders hes fine if not a little fast in the walk trot and canter round and the pulling in its the idividule show thats the problem...
hes fine untill the last canter at the top facing the other horses i then attempt to pull up for a trot back to judge and salute but he doesnt listen and i dont want to be harsh he throws his head and carrys on cantering a bit faster that his nice normal one i ussualy get when schooling and then pulls up at the side of all the other horses (on his own accord i didnt interfer as were in the school where can he go) and he stood square next to the pony and rider we ussually ride with.... he does this every 2nd time... we practice 1st time and hes fine then if we practice again (in the same session) i think he aticipates the canters and especially the one towards the other horses...
its not really a problem as i know he pulls up so i can just sit there and look pretty but id prefer wheni start showing in march that he listens....
we wont be doing any classes with the horse and rider though so maybe it wont be a problem?
FYI his backs fine his teeth were done after xmas.... saddle fits that was done in october.
any advice or excersises you could give that would be fab!!
i have an instructor but he goes brilliantly on his own or with other horses and riders hes not ussually in with.
thanks
