Normally use the Mark Todd fly rug but last year Pidge got bit to death by the midges as at new yard and the flies seem worse here

So was looking at the Horseware ones and wanted to know which one people found more effective? http://www.horseware.com/flysheets/rambo/ramboflysheets.asp
He particulary suffers with an itchy tail but never actually gets sweet itch.

I have got a sweetitch hoodie ( skye doesnt get sweet itch but does get bitten) i bought it 2nd hand off ebay and have been really pleased with it. Have always found on other rugs the neck covers slip down but with the ear holes this one stays up much better. have bought the liner for it this year that makes it water proof and have been using it recently as a lightweight turn out and found it really effective as well.

I have the Rambo Protector's. They are brilliant rugs, very hard wearing, they don't move and they have a huge tail flap that can be attached to the tail.
I personally wouldn't buy the flimsy ones.

Ive got the Sweetitch Hoody, great long neck cover which doesnt fall down, long tail flap aswell. Non of mine suffer from sweetitch however this seems to give them the best protection. Ive got the waterproof liners as well so makes it a great light weight rug for the times when you really want to put a rain sheet on but need the benefits of the fly rug.

Rambo Sweet Itch Hoody anytime, doesn't slip and has good size tail flap which has elastic to go under the tail so cannot be rubbed away. They wash up really well, dry quickly and even though my mare was a really hot person didn't get too hot inside or out in it in that hot summer a couple years ago (I think I remember it.....) They also come with a really nice hood with ears, she did not have sweet itch, was just really sensitive to the flies and became a much more relaxed person once I got it for her. I usde to put her lightweight Horseware Amigo over the top if I wanted rain protection as I don't think they did the liners at the time.

we bought a Protector for Red last weekend- i am reallly pleased with it, as he seems to specialize in scrubbing his tail.

I have a rambo rug (can't remember which model) - It is a couple of yrs old, white (quite thick) material and green binding, with an inbuilt neck.
I have had problems with this because my horse really sweats underneath it, even though he has a thin coat. Because of this I am considering buying a cheaper, more lightweight one this year.........

thanks for the advice, I was erring away from the sweet itch hoody as Pidge will not keep it on over his ears

and wondered what the difference was between the flybuster and the protector?
