I'm trying to find a nice show bridle. I love Barnsby but I want one with a fully detachable flash noseband so I can also use it for showing.

Below is a pick of horsey - he's quite fine in the head (and doesn't always look this much of a donkey!

I need a bridle that I can use pelham and snaffle with and I thikn he would be better off with a raised cavesson rather than a hunter one (especially for riding horse classes).

I don't want to spend a fortune (under £100 if possible).

Final impossible thing I want is brass/gold fixings and he has a gorge brass browband for showing.....

I was told that if he's a lightweight hunter we should always use a raised cavesson (from a judge).

mmmmm, confused now!

I show at county level and use a plain hunter bridle in brown. I had mine made by a saddler and it cost me £130 for a double, so a plain snaffle would be cheaper, I have number if you want to pm me, he's local

Flat plain havanna bridle
Plain cavesson noseband and browband
Steel buckles not brass and billets on reins and cheekpeices
Choose a coloured ribbon browband for Riding Horse

If you can find a local stockist, DEVER bridlework is good quality and you can buy the parts to make a bridle correct size.
So a normal bridle, plus slip head, two pairs of reins and a separate flash noseband if you need one for dressage or everyday riding.

I do wonder about some judges!

Flat noseband for both hunter and ridden classes and you need a velvet coloured browband for ridden horse.

Kincade double for about £30 is actually not bad for local level and the money. Keep it all simple and stay away from coloured brass fittings!

Your current bridle it looks like it is a little too large as the browband is pushed right up to his ears as one of the buckles is on the top hole (or at least that is what it looks like in the photo).

It may be that it is just a little tight - or just could be the angle of the photo!

Here's a photo of Broadstone Doulton, Riding Horse Champion at HOYS, you will see he has a flat noseband and a coloured browband (not brass

the only horses shown in brass browbands are sometimes the M&M stallions and occasionaly some of the inhand youngstock.

The heritage saddlery bridles sold on ebay are fanastic quality. I know several showing people who have them and am having one made to measure for Stinky next year when he is starting his affiliated showing.

If you speak to Matt, he will also make up any other noseband or other customisation you need and his price is very reasonable.

it's Ty's old bridle and Oscar is more of a cob size, so I'm going to go for cob next time....

Ted at Woldingham saddlery will make you a bridle to your choice, he's currently making me a flat, wide hunter bridle, for £95. And you can look at the hides he has to choose your colour preference!
