I have replied to an advert for a 15hh 9yr old connie x mare who has only been used as a broodmare and hasnt done much else, she is apparently a mare to catch (pardon the pun lol) she sounds like she has a sticky stifle, as picking up back legs you can't lift too high as she will kick out...
Wary of her head - apparently has been ill-treated by previous owners...
un shod - not an issue
has passport and is up to date with jabs so I am told....
the present owner has only had her 6mths herself in advert says she has no time for her and yet speaking to her she said she had lost her job... couldn't show me pics?

She is a dun with grey mane and tail - sounds gorgeous!!!

she wants her to go ASAP - like yest I think....even willing to give the mare away...
Now she isnt really what I am looking for but do I take her anyway and see if I can sort her out - confidence issue's...

I want to say yes....but prob for wrong reasons - being a horse.....but want to say no as it's not what I want....PLEASE help....

This sounds like a seriously difficult horse.
Don't take her on unless you really, really know what you are doing with problem horses, or at the very least have access to expert back up who does.
S :D

no it is the wrong time of year to be sorting problem horses out as i have found out, their is no market to be selling her on, it will only bring you a whole load of issues and stress, i wish i had thought again about mine.

mmmm yeah I think you are right there.... I have seen a pic and she looks in foal...!!!
otherwise she looks like she could make someone a lovely horse really quite pretty...but I think I am going to stay away from this one.....something doesn't sound quite right...I dunno

Thanks Shills....my hubby says it sounds wrong too....

I'd definately think long and hard about it.

If you want a project that you are prepared to spend alot of time on then fine, but remember sometimes projects take a long time. There will be ups and downs but if you have the experience and are prepared then why not.

There are plenty of lovely horses out there that don't come with baggage.

Good luck whatever you decide.

She sounds very much like the mare I got in september, 7yr old unbroken broodmare, and in this short space of time she has turned into a super star! She doesn't seem to have any probs with her stifle I have to say, but at first she would kick out if you touched her back legs, now she's picking them up, letting me scrub them, rasp them, whatever. It was just she'd hardly been touched before. She was also a bit headshy, now I can rub her head all over, grab her ears, poke her in the eye (I accidentally did, poor girl!). I've got 5 of my own and 6 on livery so I'm not spending 12 hours a day with her, just got into a routine and she knows she can trust me. She's the horse I'm riding in the video in my sig.

However if she's not what you want then you have answered your own question!
