To briefly summarise, brought my horse in on New Years Eve to find him very unsettled and not usual self. Left with hay net and went back to yard an hour or so later to feed assuming he would have settled. He was worse! After a bit of observing and mulling things over called vet who gave some advice. Half hour later called her out as he was getting worse.... Colic.

Vet treated him and he seemed easier an hour later, sweating reduced. Much checking all evening and finally felt happy to leave him at 12.30, back at yard early doors to check, seemed better, not right, but not sweating and eating.

Well, today he is better than he was, but still not anywhere near right. Vet out again today, agrees he is much improved but not right. Had bloods taken to check nothing worrying, vet happy they are ok. He's on bute but heart rate, temperature and gut noises all ok.

So forum users, please can you send some healing vibes to my poor, poor boy. Got a horrid feeling I am going to have to miss my family holiday, supposed to be flying Wednesday, not sure I am going to be leaving him, but not sure I really want hubby and kids going without me either!!

Thanks for your good wishes, just been to see Chester and he was rummaging in my pockets for treats, hope that's a good sign! Normally gets told off for that, but tonight he got away with it. Bless him.

Hardly dare think about the holiday! Helped kids pack their stuff, pulled out all hubbies ski stuff and currently digging out Calpol etc in case needed. How the hell am I going to cope if they all go without me?! I missed my oldest daughter when she went to Germany for a week, if they all go it is going to be pretty quiet and will he cope on the slopes with 2 kids without me................?!!!

I just can't think about out. Just hoping Chester surprises me in the morning and is feeling fine and dandy, but no can't leave him unless he is well. Oh the joys of horse ownership!
