Going off my previous thread - can just read the last paragraph if you like - its a bit of an essay.

Should i cut my losses and just sell her? i am bending over backwards to keep her on livery, she cannot live out as she doesn't cope. Spending all this time and money on her and shes really not what i want riding wise :(
Love her to bits and have formed a bond with her but i am starting to become frustrated with her. She jumps well, and yes i enjoy jumping and she does have potential jumping wise, BUT dressage is my passion.......
I have a LW cob which i will backing late next year as a 3yr old so i will have her to concentrate on and ride eventually.
Do i, a) hope she grows out of it and settles, just persist and try a calmer
b) sell her on and with the money build stables on our land - which i could desperately do with
or sell her and buy a welsh sec D for dressage which i wanted originally that can live out with my cob??

So, is she only like this at a competition, or does she do it no matter where you are?

When you say she's been checked, what was she checked for?

It sounds as though you have made a decision, but haven't put it into words yet...
 
you seem to be having trouble making up your mind although perhaps deep down you no the answer.
Would you think you have failed or something if you sold on,why not go and try some section D and see how you feel.
Sounds as if you have worked wonders with her already,might be the time to let someone else move on,and you move to another horse.
sure you will make the right decision,for you both.

Do see if you can get her checked for ulcers as others have suggested. Could it be a feed related thing? My TB was quite wild, and I think it may have been a feed thing, but if I gave him any less he would have wasted away :S

But, would she be happier Jumping/hacking etc with somebody else and would you be happier doing dressage more and moving on more quickly? We love them all but sometimes we just aren't compatible, like people :D
 
I have to agree with the other posters ^^^^^^^.
If you feel that you have done all you can for this mare and she doesn't do what you want her to do, then it probably is best for you both that you sell her on. I'm sure you're not considering selling her via the local market or anything like that but will take the time to find her a good suitable home.
I bought my mare from someone who found herself to be over-horsed. It was a very difficult decision for her to make and in fact she had put her on the market and then changed her mind once. Since I bought the mare, K and I have kept in touch and she and her OH have been to visit her once. K bought another much more suitable horse and is now having the fun she always wanted to have.
They really are too expensive to keep when they are unsuitable for you for whatever reason, when you know that they will be suitable for some-one else.
 
I do think she is more destined for xc and SJ - shes so keen and her attitude changes. She is mostly stressy at shows, dressage mainly. Jumping shes fine, gets on with it. Can be stressy at home too and more recently out hacking. We haven't jumped for a few weeks now, just concentrating on schooling mainly. I may have fried her brain :(
Will def get a calmer for her and do mainly hacking for now with perhaps 1 jumping session per week and 1 schooling session per week. I am meant/wanted to do the winter dressage which starts mid-november :(
Friend has suggested a good idea re selling her, instructor who deals with problem horses may take her on for a few weeks and find someone to take her on. He is well connected in the horsey world and has mentioned potential re jumping. So if i do go down the sale root i will go through him.
