Hello all

I have 2 ponies a section C mare who is currently on lite chaff and lite balancer with itchless liquid and garlic. She is low exercise, couple of schooling sessions/hacks a week and out in the field during the day. She has had lami in the past but not whilst with me. She is a good weight currently.

I also have a 7 year old stallion who is a companion only and isn't ridden or bred from. He is on the smaller side but a good weight. I have only gotten him in the last 3 weeks and he is on the same feed as my other currently but not sure if this is sufficient for him. He has limited field time as he can't be left out when we aren't at the farm.

Thanks

If they are doing well on the current feed I’d leave it. If the stallion is just a companion though it might be better to see about castration, as he’d have a better quality of life as a gelding.

That is definitely the plan once I was spoken to a vet and fly season is over. He's a rubbish companion to my mare as is 🤣 but he is just a pet so no balls needed

Lite chaff and balancer sounds fine. The alternative is a powdered vitamin supplement, but if a balancer is working for your mare, chances are your stallion will be fine on it too.
