Need help with horse's legs please

Bought my new horse 5 weeks ago after losing my beautiful boy. Now I was particularly spoilt with my last boy as he was as quiet as a lamb and I could do absolutely anything with him or to him.

New horse will not have spray on his legs. I can hose his legs if I do it very gently,
He has leg mites so have clipped his legs and bought frontline spray -this worked for my old boy who stood perfectly to be clipped and sprayed.

New boy was more than happy to have legs clipped but would not have the spray on.
Reared, span, kicked - not a happy boy at all.

Any ideas how I can get him used to spray on his legs?

He will tolerated fly spray on his body if you are quick!!!

can you not put it on sponge or cloth and dab on some horses dont like the feeling of light mist mine dont mind now but took a long time convincing him lol
 
My horse hates being sprayed she can be hosed but as soon as you spray something like purple spray she turns into a buckaroo! I was advises to put her in a school on a lunge line and practice spraying her with water but she gets so stressed it is just easier for her and me to use a sponge;)
 
a bit like you train a dog really he seamed to tolerate it on his bum for some reason so would do a couple of spays to start with if he stood would leave it may be a polo lol and gradually done more when i got to neck and legs i used to pat and rub him at same time sort of takes mind of it you cant make a big deal out of it singing helped to as it kept me calm and gave him something else horrible to listen to hahaha as soon as you stress or try and sort of chase them you teach them to leg it and makes it a big deal for everyone concerned. as soon as they stand nice stop, pat and leave for a bit soon they should figure out standing means either treat or you do what you want to do then stop lol
 
Have you tried a quiet spray because he might not like the noise? And with the spray you mentioned that you had got, it it possible that it could be stinging his legs? Hope I helped :)
