I put Alisha in foal last year but unfortunately she lost it after her first scan

Now she is sound, back in work and out competing again. We have another try with the same stallion, but I'm not sure whether to do it this year or to wait till next year. I would really like to compete her over the summer in BSJA BN and Disc classes. Would I be able to do this if she was in foal? How long would I be able to compete her/ride her for? I'm guessing in the early stage of the pregnancy when they are most liekly to lose it i should not ride her? Thanks in advance for your help

I'm in a similar position with my mare. Gina is a little arab I rescued this time last year from similar conditions to those poor horses in Amersham. She is 8 this year & at present is unbroken - do I send her away to Richard Maxwell to be broken now & work her for a year, or do I send her back to stud in March to be covered... Or do i send her away now to be started, then turn her away while she is covered & hack her gently while she is in foal?

Thought this tale might be of interest, i had a mare who conceived 3 foals, 2 of which were still born prematurely. the only one that survived was born to term, after vet scanned "not in foal" and we competed her bsja until 3 months before giving birth,at which time it was apparent he was wrong a urine test confirmed this.

Sorry to hear that you had two foals still born, that's encouraging to hear that the healthy one came out of a mare competing very close to foaling, maybe I will do it this year then...
