Okay, I really need some advice.
There is a dog next door who is allowed loose and although they sometimes remember to close the gate, it isn't always.
There isn't really a nice way to put the people next door as anything but pikeys. They don't really walk it but it does generally look well.
Anyway, the big problem is that it has now attacked our dogs whilst coming back from their walks twice. Last time it latched onto our older dogs throat, but luckily didn't do too much damage. Tonight it grabbed onto our other dog and he is now raw all around one eye, I broke the fight up after running out the house (the dog won't attack you, just the dogs) and I got bitten too, it's not too bad, just on a finger and it should be fine.

We don't know what to do next really. We have to report it somewhere as we have got lucky twice, but next time it could be worse. I'm 17 and am more worried about the actual people than my mum and dad, as the bloke just got back from jail because somebody murdered someone else for him (it sounds like we live in an awful place but its actually a lovely quiet village!) and I just don't want anything bad to happen between my family and them as I don't really think they know what other people can be like.

I'm sorry if this is all really a jumbled mess but it happened literally half an hour ago. Just what would you do next?

Thanks x

Report it to the police as the dog has bitten you.The police will not inform them of who has lodged the complaint.

Hope you & dogs are feeling better soon. (((())))

Yup police need telling! as k9h has said they will keep it anonymous (sp?!) but it needs sorting as next time as you say you may not be so lucky!!!

Shame that **** people result in problems with the dog! but it needs sorting before the dog starts focussing on people rather than other dogs!

hope your dogs and your finger feels better soon!

Agree with the above but contact the dog warden also (here you have to go through your district council's environment dept to get to the dog warden).

If a dog attacks from a highway and not in its own boundaries the owners can be at least contacted by either of the above.

However, your problem is that they are bound to know it was from you as they must know their dog attacked you and your dog and I am guessing you fear reprisals?

Next time this dog comes onto your property - chuck a bucket of water over it or squirt it with lemon juice from a jif lemon thingy - might just make it think twice next time

What a horrible situation, I personally would have kicked ten bells out of it

however , thats a sort of don't repeat this thing.

I think u maybe should becareful if u are worried about them being arse wipes and causing trouble, but I think definately as suggested an anonyamous call to the dog warden/police to report it loose and unsupervised, and mention your bite and the attack to your dog, explain your predicament and tell them u would like a warning issued for the dog to be kept undercontrol, and if poss tell them u are not leaving your name and explain why.

Otherwise I would be tempted to put a slip lead on the little fecker and cart it off to the pound, see how peeved they will get when they have to keep paying to get it out

but again, don't try that, u may get bitten.

Agree with the others - report it to the police and the dog warden and expalin the situation. They maybe able to be be 'just passing' when the dog is out - is it possible it will have attacked other dogs??

Also agree with CALA and would keep getting it taken to the pound - of the Dog Warden may be able to do that for you if he wanders.....
