Currently my show horse is fed scoop alfa oil, scoop racehorse cubes, half scoop Baileys outshine, soya oil and garlic. And he's still so very chilled!!! This I love about him, but in the show ring he is so lazy, its not to bad with me as I know how to ride him to make him look forward going, but with the judge hes always so lazy!!! I'm going to start feeding naked oats 3 days before a show, and but any suggestions on a high quick release energy mix or supplement??? I can find a million calmers, but nothing to make him wake up!!

He's forward going out hunting, and up the mountain when we gallop, but in the show ring hes so lazy for the judges!!!
Thanks

competetion mix does every thing from shinying - energy realeased wen needed

I have exactly the same problem with my boy, he's so laid back, and although I can get him going (sort of) judges just cant! I can't add anything, just use the useful replies to help wake up my monster!

My horse was the same on 3 level scoops of bileys endurance mix, now she is on a balancer and then 4 mugs of tiger oats a day

Equiform Nutrition Jump Off supplement, also make sure he gets electrolytes, very important in hot, humid weather. Electrolyte imbalance can cause lethargy, you probably don't need Outshine, soya oil & Alpha oil, I would probably go for Alpha A & soya oil. You can feed up to 1 pint of oil daily, but this amount needs additional supplementation with vitamin e. Hope that helps.

I was also going to mention Electrolytes and Jump-Off, you can get them both from Equiform. You can also get Jump-Off syringes which you can give them on the day.

Naked Oats are also supposed to be excellent for ooomph, but I'm not sure adding them just three days before would make much difference, would it? I always thought it takes at least two weeks for a new feed to take effect.

You could try a small amount of naked oats in his daily feed all the time.

It's such a nice problem to have though - you're lucky!

Not when it stands between you and a HOYS ticket!! 3rd twice in two qualifiers, due to his idle!!

I know what its like to have a horse on the complete other end of the scale, and I think I will stick with Bossy's lazyness than some of the psychos I ride!!!

Thanks everyone, I will do some more research. I was investing in some oats when they come in tomorrow anyway, so will try them and have a look for some of the other things too!
