Hi Guys,
So, I need to learn how to pull a trailor, I'm going to get lessons etc but in the meantime, do you know if I can drive pull a trailor with my horse in, with someone who has got a license pre 1997 in the passenger seat? If this is allowed I'm guessing I would need learner plates on as well??
I have had my license since 2003.
Your help would be appreciated as I need to take my horse to a show on the 1st July in the trailor, so need to get something sorted before then...getting him in the trailor is my next job
Thank You

Hello!

Yes you can tow your trailer with L plates on, with someone who as a pre 1997 licence (so called 'grandfather rights' in the passenger seat. I did this for 6 months before I took my test, it was invaluable to get the pratice!
However, you cannot do this with a lorry (over 3.5t) anymore. If you want to drive a lorry on L plates, the person sitting with you must have passed their cat C1 test (or cat C for HGV).

Good luck gettting him in the trailer! :)

Yes - it is spelt 'trailer'!!!

Sorry, couldn't resist! Yes to your question, as re previous post.

Good luck with your loading practice x
