Need to find a home for 8 month old pyrenean

Shame your not closer to me we were going to start looking for a female playmate for our malamute but he's very submissive but high play energy so would have to be the right mix, I'd have come met you both if we'd been closer :(

That's a real shame. She's so playful. Her Mum and her had a really long play this evening. So hopefully things will be okay.

I never feed dogs together, or have shared toys, it's the source of so much conflict and can so easily be avoided x

I'm really stressing now as an old friend of mine told me today how she heard about two bitches who had been together several years with no trouble. Then one day she came home to find one of them ripped to shreads. Killed by the other one. :( I have got myself so worried now. There hasn't been a single growl today though since I removed the feed bowls.

That kind of thing is very rare and could have been triggered by any number of things!
As you say, removing the food bowls will probably be a huge help. Some dogs eat together no hassle, other breeds are more naturally defensive/territorial/prone to guard resources and this is when scraps break out, we've always had scrappers so it is just safer to feed in different rooms/kennels etc.

Thanks. I have emailed the owner yesterday stating that I will give it a week or two trying to sell her and then if a good home does not turn up, I will try to find her the best home possible for free, and that if that was not acceptable then they would have to take her back and sell her themselves. They haven't anwered me and so I don't know if they have received it or not, but at least I have a record that I have informed them of my intentions.Touch wood things have been more settled today and there have been no tense moments. I have sussed the feeding out I think and removed all the bowls (food was the cause of the attack yesterday) and I am feeding the dried food scattered in tiny piles over the yard. They seemed to enjoy searching it out and there were no bowls to take possession of. Not ideal, but I tried taking them out to be fed separately in the kennel and run and not one of them would touch their food :(.

I would advise not giving her away for FREE in any instance, giving a dog away is asking for trouble. you need to charge a minimum of £150 and with this make sure sure is fully vaxed and chipped and keep her registered to you until you are happy she has settled into a new home. I certainly would not be giving her back to whom you sold her either as he sounds like a ass hole. I know this is not an easy situation but you bred her and she is back in your care so you now need to do the best for her and this means keeping her in your care until such time a suitable home is found, regardless of your home situation, you must have room to practice save seperation for these dogs? I live in atiny house ad still take bac all rescues regardless of size, sex, etc, if she is kenneled and kicking up a fuss, work with it or kennel her parents beside her, otherwise she could end up in some unsavoury hands if you try to off load her to quick, inc the initial purchaser! you owe this person nothing, unless you agreed to refund monies should the pup be returned then tell him to do one! have you tried joinin any pyrenean forums to see if that would be a goo place to search for a home and state a minimum donation (to be give to a charity) or to a designated vet for future spay will be requested aswell as home visit.

As suggested no need to panick if safety is taken into consideration and thebitches are seperated when unsupervised, posessions are as suggested what cause a large portion of dogs fighs andyou would be amazed how many people leave dogs together with alot of posessions and think they will share like good friends do:rolleyes:
I kenneld my akita and shepherd bitches together for years till I lost the shepherd to illness without a problem, I also kennled a lurcher bitch with a collie bitch again no issues, and if my rottie was an outside dog I would have no issues kenneling her with my akita (my pack rules remain constant as always though) and I would however never have left posessions with them in any way shape or form and would be closeby at feed time. Whilst sheis in your care exercise caution and let them mix and nip any over selous or unwanted behaviour in the bud yourself and seperate when unsupervised until you find a suitable home for the puppy.

I was in a right state about it last night. But they had been playing all day and spent the last two night together in harmony. I know what the trigger for the fight was. Mum was eating her food and I needed to close a door but the bowl was in the way, so I used my foot to move the bowl, which probably irritated her, and then Bonnie came up to see what she had in her bowl. Mum growled, Bonnie growled back and then Mum attacked. I have a huge courtyard and I have fed them without bowls again this morning by scattering tiny piles around, and all was fine.

Thank you for that excellent advice. Price of spaying is around £200 so that sounds a good price to ask. I wonder if I could take it as a returnable deposit for when proof of spaying has been provided (letter from vet?) once she is old enough.

I am watching them carefully all day long and if there is so much as a cross look, I will have to put her in the kennel. She cannot come in the house as it is open plan and my terriers would rag her until she snapped!

Apologies re missing words, hopefully they are still readable, I was at work and the computer misses letters when you type as fast as I do:o no matter how hard you jam them in:mad:
