i have a barnsby that I've been trying to sell on ebay, advertised on HHO, Horsemart etc etc and can't get rid of it.

Someone offered me £250 on Ebay but it's only a year old so thought I'd get more than that for it!

Has anyone else got a decent price for a relatively newish saddle?

It's a black GP, 17.5 medium. I wanted to keep it for my new boy but he's got massive withers so had to buy an Albion K2 for him. Very comfy and good for jumping/hacking (big knee rolls)

Second hand saddles are a bit like second hand cars. I sold my 3 year old Dever saddle - £900 new - for £210 on Ebay; saddlers offered me £150. It was in fine condition - used, obviously, but no scratches, tears or scuffs - yet I lost so much money on it

I'd take what you can get for it on ebay, set a reserve, you may need to list it a few times to get what you want though (which can end up costing alot in listing fees), just depends if there is someone looking for that particular size/type at the time.

No saddlers would give me more than £150 for either of mine (they all told me to put em on ebay!!!!), and I ended up getting £240 for the dressage, and £310 for the stubben.

My 2 sold quite well i thought, but they were much older than yours!

yeah if you dont really need the money I'd hold on to it...... what about the friday ads? might have more joy there!

Ring some saddlers and ask if they will sell on a commission basis. Most charge about 20% so if you put it up for £400 then you would get £320. Most saddlers do that round here.

A couple of years ago I tried to sell a saddle on ebay and didn't want it to go for nothing. First time round I did it the normal way (with a reserve) and it didn't sell. I listed it again but put a Buy It Now on for £350 (I wasn't expecting much luck though), I also stated that I would pay postage if anyone took the BIN option. It sold almost straightaway! Maybe I was just lucky but it might be worth a try.

i am having the same trying to get £400 for a stubben on ebay at the mo that cost £900 in october and was valued last week at 600, just cant get anyone interested. is gorgeous saddle so so annoying!

Theres a saddler here in Hampshire that will sell good quality second hand saddles on a comission basis. So leave it with her and she should be able to sell it for you .

Lynn Russell has bring and buy tack sales at her yard in Dunsfold. surrey. She sold my ideal event saddle for £500 for me and I gave her some money which she donates to breast cancer. Otherwise contact saddlesdirect website.
