Thank you for the replies on Monday - they were helpful. In the meantime I've discounted the yard with ragwort/bad fencing and seen 2 more so 3 to choose from and they need to know by tomorrow as there are others in line for the place!
All professionally run, good grazing, facilities, ayto, off road hacking, nice liveries etc. My horse is 15.1hh but is a stallion and so it's hard to find somewhere altogether let alone with turnout! This is for part livery.
Negatives:
Yard 1:
- Barbed wire fencing, possibly too far for farrier of 7 yrs (very, very difficult feet so don't want to lose him if poss).
- Stable not well ventilated and dark but is 10x12.
- Husband who shares the horse preferred either yard 2 or 3.
Yard 2:
- Stable only 10x10.
- They do absolutely everything and don't want me to continue preparing his feed which I've done for years and will find hard to give up!
- Small yard which is good, but on a big complex sharing schools (x3) and grazing with 2 other big yards - didn't seem busy when viewed but concerned he wouldn't settle due to too much going on.
- Hay & shavings were kept outside - couldn't see indoor storage area
Yard 3:
- Not experienced with looking after stallions but willing to take him (he's very well behaved but obviously needs awareness!)
- The most suited stable would mean the person already using it moving to another one which might cause bad feeling before we get there.
- Not that sure how much winter grazing there'd be.
