Just over a week ago I moved my new horse to her new yard. Great little yard near my house. But yesterday one of the horses went down with EAM and I can't risk my mare getting it so need to move asap! Can't believe how common this horrid disease is becoming!

So please can ou guys help me find DIY/assisted/part livery in or around Maidstone. I am really peed off about moving since I've only just done it, but obviously can't risk losing my horse. Searching preloved/friday ad etc, but can't find much around

HELP!

No, never heard of it - can I have some more details? pm me please. I only know a few yards in the area, and 1 of those has had grass sickness and another has also had EAM!

Don't panic too much. Just because one horse has had it doesn't mean yours will get it. A friend's horse at a neighbouring yard to me had it, just one horse out of about 30.

Have you tried Mel Poynter's yard on Bluebell hill, or is that too far? Sorry don't have a current phone number but used to keep my horse there when her mum ran the yard. Really nice place. Just on the bend after The Bell pub.

No - don't know any yards up that way except Kits Coty. Where is the pub?

Will do my best here but moved to Sussex 5 years ago and things have changed on that junction!! If you go into Bluebell Hill Village as if you're going to the Crem and follow the road along straight past the Crem turning, keep going until the pub is on the left in front of you, or if you carry on you'll end up on Bluebell Hill dual carriageway, turn left just before the pub and follow the lane, on the corner you will see stables and post and rail fencing, car park is a little further round. It used to be a really nice yard and a friend of mine has just moved there on DIY with her pony so I know it's still going. Good luck.

I know that yard, used to share up there. It is a nice friendly yard, pretty basic, but good hacking. They are usually full but worth giving it a go, biggest downside is when I was there the turnout wasn't great over winter, horses had to be in overnight for a long time, but they do get turnout everyday. Land doesn't drain brilliantly so tended to get quite muddy as well, gateways were especially bad, think welly height sometimes mid winter!

There is a yard in Aylesford, not too far from Kits Coty,or try Street farm in Burham.Have a look at Lillico's and Birchalls to see if there is anything advertised there.Paris Farm in East Malling may be a possibility.
