I am going on sunday to view a litter of gorgeous irish red and white setters! I want to choose a bitch as a gift for my parents (they do want one but dont think there are any litters at moment - luckily i know where to look!)

Only i know about it at the moment but i really need to share my excitement with someone!

Here is a photo of 3 of the pups in the litter

OK....sorry to rain on your parade, BUT, although it's a lovely thing that you are doing I would not want a puppy that someone else had chosen for me! It's a very personal thing involving personalities and the pup that suits one person won't suit another......ALSO, I would be very suspicious of a breeder that sold a pup to someone that was then going to pass the pup on to someone else that the breeder hadn't met. Especially so as the red and white setter isn't a numerically high breed. :D

Can you not in some way give your parents the present and then INVOLVE them in the actual selection of the pup?? :)

i live with my parents so the pup will be living with me also. I have spoken with the breeder, will be meeting them at the champ show beforehand and will then visit the pups (with change of shoes and hand sanitiser!).
They only have one bitch still available so dont have a choice of pup but know my parents will adore it no matter what.

Ohhhhhh be happy for the excited soon to be pup owner for goodness sake!!!

They look gorge- not a breed I have ever seen before. A lady where I work breeds Gordon setters, and I met her big lad the other day- do not think I have ever met a dog that big that was not a great dane!!!- he is enormous!

Love Irish Red & Whites!

Tonnes of people buy from Europe unseen, there are a couple of dogs I know who were bought 'over the internet' and they do just fine, people know people who know people....

i have been very impressed with the breeder so far. We have had a long chat over the phone about health screening, what health issues are present in the breed and what is being done to help them.
When i asked if i could visit on route back from showing my dog at a champ show they said yes as long as i changed my shoes and de sanitised my hands etc.
There are 4 bitches in the litter and it is a good sign that two have been booked by people in the breed - obviously a well regarded litter - the breeder is actually the club treasurer too, busy man!

Oh, I could be your adoptive mummy if you bought me one of those. Wouldn't match my horse but would certainly match my Spangle:)

Oops, first thing I noticed was the colour match. :o I must be weird! My spangles match my horse, not deliberately! :o

The first picture you took: that dog is going to be seriously gorgeous as an adult. I mean, she is now, but I can see her being really outstanding when she's bigger.

When will you pick up your puppy?
