I have been sharing a field with another horse and she is not being looked after properly. Hooves are growing over the sides of her shoes and they stink so badly when you pick them, flies are literally swarming around them and the frogs are falling apart. One of the hooves has virtually no frog left. Horses poo smells so bad (not a normal smell for horse poo) , they are more like cow pats but dark green, tail is covered in poo all the time.
I have spoken to owners about it (they very rarely turn up to check on horse, I'm talking maybe once a fortnight!) And they just say yeah she's due a trim 'soon'. They can't have been done for quite some time, I'm wondering if she has a heavy worm burden but once again, owner says she's wormed regularly. I have no proof and as tempting as it it to worm her myself, I don't want to risk the very very very slim chance of them doing it and causing even more problems.
Is there anything anyone can suggest I can give the horse for her upset stomach, feather mites and to treat the frogs maybe? I just want to make her as comfortable as I can.
