I just popped outside for a cheeky cig (I know its naughty!) and the lab from next door was slumped at my gates. I knew something was wrong straight away because he was just sat there letting Betsy harrass him.
I lent over to stroke him and he wimpered when I touched his shoulder and bless him he was bleeding
His owner was on her way up the street when I saw him and she was clutching her arm.
They had been out for a walk near the river and the poor old boy had been attacked by a 'large bull terrier type'. J is a lovely dog with the patience of a saint, he never even grumbles at Betsy when she is hanging off his ears. We walk with them regularly and I have seen him be angelic with alot of other dogs too. So I completely believe that the attack was unprovoked.
My neighbour told me she had to drag the dog off J and that in the process it went for her. Luckily it didn't break the skin but I could clearly see a large bruise forming on her hand, she thinks she has damaged muscles in her arm and she cannot move her thumb!
Her number 1 priority is gettin the dog to the vets, I offered to take him for her (No idea how I would fit a huge lab in a fiat 500!) or to take her to the hospital but she was having none of it!
The owners of the other dog were trailing behind the dog when the attack happened and simply said 'I dont know what has gotten into him'.
Neighbour was obviously too upset and in pain to get details etc, I also get the feeling that she doesnt want to cause any trouble as she said they werent the kind of people you want to p*ss off!
Now... I am moving in a couple of months and have no issues with upsetting people here. Is there anything that can be done?
I was planning on taking betsy down there today, this has scared me off.
