In case anyone is interested, I have posted some pics of the current results of treatment with Liverpool Cream on Nemo's sarcoid in the veterinary section.

Warning! This thread contains graphic images of various wounds, diseases and injuries, so if you are at all squeamish, just do not go there!
If you are not squeamish, it's an absolutely fascinating thread and a great idea from Papafrita :)

Nemo's pics are on page 10 I think.

my horse has about 5 sarcoids ranging in size, tried xterra cream in april which is a brown cream which is £100 for a tiny tub, approx the size of a half a polo mint tube. It looked like it was doing the trick for about a month but they have came back. Last year i spent £120 on 200 days of power against sarcoid powder (forest farmacy) which only prevented them from getting bigger, none of them dropped off. Have tried lamb rings which cause them to fall off but they come back a month later. How much was the liverpool treatment? do you have to go to liverpool to get it? thanks

Hi,

You can get your vet to do a referral via www.sarcoids.co.uk you might even be able to do it yourself (I'm not sure as my vet did mine) and they will ask lots of questions and then give your their opinion on treatment (lots of options). Good luck :)

I would not recommend the liverpool cream. My horse had 3 smal sarcoids which were treated with this. His whole back legs were raw from the cream but they did fall off. The following year dozens popped up all over the raw area and they are gradually spreading out from there. They ar enot covered by insurance any more (of course) so we just have to wait and see what happens. I am trying the forest farmacy powder but they said I would see a difference within 6 weeks and to be fair I can, there are more of them. Even his sarcoids have sarcoids now :(

I would recommend Liverpool Cream. I know several horses who have been treated successfully with it

You have to have it put on by a vet though. It is not for sale to the general public because of the chemicals in it.

The cream seems to be working for my Boy (and I was allowed to adminsiter it under strict instructions as a cost saving exercise by my vet who prescribed it)

Hi, the cream cost about £250 and I believe it is the strongest mix.
My vet took photos of the sarcoid and sent them to Professor Knottenburg at Liverpool University. He assessed the photo and made the cream up accordingly.
The vet then had to come at fairly precise intervals to administer the cream. It was something like 1st application, 2nd 24 hours later, then 48 hours, then 24 hours, then 72 hours, then 48 hours. Can't remember the exact routine, but you get the picture :)
My vet then came out 3 weeks later to take further photos to send to Liverpool and I am now waiting to hear what the professor has to say about it.
My vet did say that it was going just as he had hoped it would and warned me that when the scab comes off, what's underneath isn't going to look to nice! So although it looks gross, I am hopeful of the outcome.

I will update the thread in veterinary with pics of any developments for those interested :)
