Neoprene wellies for fat legs?

My latest pair of cheap wellies are leaking in the snow :( They have lasted pretty well really, but as usual they have split in the places where they 'crease' around the ankles...

So I am wondering about biting the bullet and buying a pair of neoprene wellies. The ones I have seen appear to be quite wide in the leg with adjustable buckles - is this an optical illusion? I would be gutted to fork out for a pair and then find that they crack and split like the cheaper ones :(

I find it so annoying, my legs are not THAT fat (I'm a size 12?) but I always seem to find wellies tight in the calf so clearly I have fat calves :(

Grubs frontline or muck boots are both generous in the calf, my calves vary between 16-18” depending on my weight and both of these brands always fit.
I’ve fallen out of love with muck boots though as they keep falling apart. Love my current grubs ones!

No adjustable buckles on these though, they just stretch to fit.

i have the same problem with normal wellies although i dont think my calves are huge, ive had aigle parcours for the last 4 years, they were about £150 but thats less than £40 a year so i think they are good value. they are very warm and i find them comfortable and use them at the yard and for dog walking. i havent ridden in them as i think that would mess them up...

Ah now these came up on a Google search from a thread on here about 5 years ago - lots of recommendations for them! My only concern is that I have very wide feet, I am wondering if I would need 1/2 size bigger than usual to accommodate that....

I'd look to get some Grubs especially if you can get some reduced. Generous in the foot width too I'd say. And the stretchy neoprene is great for wider calves. Anything with a solid rubber outer on the leg will push down and cause creases with a wide calf unless it is very generous fitting. The neoprene on grubs and muckboots can stretch outwards to accommodate.

Having said that my 15" calves fit fine into my le camels.

Can anyone recommend particular Grubs? I looked at their website and got confused at the different types.... don't want to ride in them, they would be for mucking out/turning out/walking the dogs :)

i also have wide feet and they are fine for me, i am usually a size 5 1/2 but bought size 6 and wear an extra pair of socks so my feet are always toasty, i also dont have the adjustable top very wide and there is plenty of scope to alter them to be even wider...i think they are great and when they finally die i will buy another pair...

I’ve just got a pair of Grubs frontline boots. They are so warm with a good sole and fit my cob legs really well. Wish I’d bought some ages ago

That is my kind of price range :)

Orly? funny because you felt a need to join my thread and jump on the paddy wagon with those who decided to get on at me for not wanting to pay £100+ and of course this is quite a nice discount for anyone. Prey tell why this is your kind of price range when you wish to ridicule someone who has gotten upset over such things in that regard?

Sorry to the rest of you to have brought this here but this guy, or lady, is pretty damn two face after posting crap on my thread after posting this!

I'd make a couple of suggestions but honestly? I'm finding it difficult to find boots that aren't too tight myself, or too big. Best of luck to you due how people are on here I doubt you'll find anything that fits your requirements, at least not without criticism should you decide its not what you want or it simply doesn't fit you or whatever the reason maybe. By the way I actually think those Woof Wear wellies look good, might even consider buying a pair myself at some point as I'm in need of some good ones myself as well as my jodhpur boots, oh the joys of owning a horse, the list of items needed, or to be replaced, continues to grow.. lol.

You're one to talk, what you posted in my thread was practically trolling. By the way I don't think those woofs are neoprene, which is what you're asking for, no?

I have the Grubs Rideline 5.0 and they've been a revelation. My calves don't fit in most wellies, other than ones from websites targetting the hefty-calved. I have warm legs for the first time ever and so far (2 months in) there have been no issues. I have worn them for yard work approx 8hrs every day since buying.

I have Grubs Highlines. They are super comfy & so warm. Wide in the calf as to be flappy on my stick legs even on the tightest buckle, but I love them.

And yet the woof wellies are for riding and not neoprene, I think I made my point here.. Also that doesn't warrant them to be a dick on my thread either. But as a saying goes; two can play that game.

And you clearly know all about being a dick.....albeit a small one....

Thanks for the suggestions all - looks like Grubs or the Aigle ones are the way ahead! Wish I’d asked before & saved myself a few pairs of cheap wellies :)

Why is dick not starred out :eek3:

Come on fatty, I feel violated now

:D :D

Lol this forum seems to be quite random in regard to the words it removes - it is difficult in AAD when you wish to use the correct term for female dogs

Ha! ya know, I was wondering that myself! I guess it's because its not really considered profanity? though surprisingly Lév made a point in regards to other things being censored that shouldn't be either, or more so.

*enters with trepidation

Lev, I have quite big calves these days, all muscle :p I have some dunlop puroforts which are lasting forever, they do insulated versions, and are well priced. mine just don't look as 'trendy' as some of the other options as they are the standard :p- they don't seem to do insulated non safety in those, though they are relatively warmd due to their construction anyway. I do pop some insoles in if doing much walking as my feet aren't great (and they are nice and lightweight for the back that isn't great too)
