Does anyone else suffer from horrendous third party nerves?

Hubby is doing his first OPN in 18 months tomorrow and I feel physically sick just sat here at work.

Thing is - our horse is a maniac in the dressage warm up and it terrifies me that there will be an accident. He never does well at dressage so that doesnt bother me in itself but then I have to stand and watch him SJ...heart in mouth.... that he gets round and can go XC...

only to then stand there frozen in fear as I listen to the commentary hoping that I dont hear that hes had a stop or a problem anywhere.

Gah!!! I think I need to go be sick............

My parents get so nervous when me and my sister compete. I also get nervous watchhing my dad. Mum has left bruises on peoples arms as she graps hold of them when we go over a jump. Also my dad gets really nervous watching us do dressage (partly because it is common for us to come out crying) so he doesn't watch, then complain that the judge's markings were completely wrong. I am sure your husband will do really well, take lots of rescue remedy and a bottle of gin and you'll be fine.

It is much worse watching than doing it yourself and quite unheathy something to do with adrenalin and not exercising.I am always glad when my daughter and horse come back safe and sound never mind the result

First of all.
Best of luck to G and B

I hope they have fun out there tomorrow.

As for the other problem *HELL YES*
Im going to support MdeM at Gatcombe and I will be a nervous as anything. I always want my friends to do well, so god knows how bad it is for you as hes your hubby.

You do have to remember that THEY do it for fun. We are there just to pick up any pieces, practise fences and bribe the judges

Mother is the same as you, but she would much prefer coming eventing than going SJing...

(((((((((hugs))))))))))

thanks guys! Just been working out the timings .. gotta be up the yard mucking the rest of the crew out by 4.30am to get plaited and loaded for 5.30am.

Yep - youre right, he admits he does it for the fun but I know how gutted he will be if he doesnt do B justice....

Blurggh..... pass the sick bag. Humous and slim-a-soup coming right back out..........

OMG don't remind me. The worst is when Rosie's in a point to point and they're out of sight but you hear on the PA system that she's been unseated or her horse has fallen - it makes me shake with fright!

I used to be terrible when my son competed, really quite ill but trying not to show it to him.
Once I was waiting mid way round the XC and he fell off at the 1st, I nearly had kittens when the horses after him came through.

However, now hes stopped, I miss it all so much - and know now that I loved it all really, even with the massive adrenaline bursts.

PLenty of rescue remedy and ENJOY...... good luck to both of u x
