Having not ridden my horse for 3 months due to an injury caused by a fall off him, I am finding myself putting off getting back on again. I have had a few falls, two of them quite bad, in the last two years but have gotten back on as soon as I could after each one. This time, however feels different. I have no issue getting back on, its just limiting what I actually do with him. Has anyone else found an accumulation of incidents finally get to you?

Find Karl Greenwood on Facebook his a rider confidence coach dies loads of videos and helps riders like yourself, he also runs courses at his yard they are very good I did one a few years back after I broke my ankle when my horse fell on me.

I found you need to go back and set yourself small goals like just getting on and walking about, you can't get on and just expect to try and do the things you did before, try and find someone you can ride with even if it's just in the school, I also had several short lessons a week rather than one long one a week, find someone who is sympathetic to your situation and who will help give you confidence, I needed someone to just baby me for a while rather than push me out of what I felt comfortable with.

It’s natural to feel like that. When I finally got on after my spinal injury (5months out and not horse related) I got on my friends trusty guy as I didn’t think it was best for me to get on my 4/5yr old that was only broken 6months previous 😅

Maybe go for a lesson on something slow and steady and get those firsts out the way. Even if you go jumping etc at an RS then see how you go. No shame in being nervous it’s just your brain trying to pretext you from pain ☺️
